The first death in Australia
A health official in Australia said that a man infected with the Corona virus died on Sunday morning in a hospital in Perth, in the first death of the virus in the country.
The 78-year-old man was quarantined after being evacuated from the Diamond Princess cruise ship in Japan, among more than 150 Australian citizens.
"We offer our condolences to his family and unfortunately it is the first death of our coronavirus in Australia," said Andrew Robertson, a health official in Western Australia.
The authorities stated that the man's wife was also infected with the virus, but that she was in stable condition.
The number of people living with HIV in Australia has reached 25, according to the latest government statement.
