WhatsApp is one of the main things that people have seen is weak. WhatsApp automatically downloads and stores all media files, from photos to videos to GIFs recently, not to mention audio files. They are sent and received inside it. This feature has its pros and cons, on the one hand is good, especially when you want to retransmit one of the previous things from time to time.
All you have to do is search what the app has saved. On the other hand, this feature can be a nuisance.Downloading all media not only causes clutter in the phone gallery and music player, but also takes up a lot of storage and data space. As a result, you don't have to worry if WhatsApp can be prevented from saving your photos and videos.
Prevent WhatsApp from automatically saving photos and videos
Here's how to prevent WhatsApp from automatically saving different photos and videos on your Android and iPhone:
Prevent WhatsApp from saving photos and videos in Android
WhatsApp on Android has a switch that lets you prevent WhatsApp from saving your photos and videos. Here's how:
Open the WhatsApp app and make sure you see the main window - where all your chats are displayed. Click the three vertical dots at the top right> Settings.
Now click Data & Memory Storage> Auto Media Download. You will see three options:
When using phone data.
When connected to a Wi-Fi network.
Click on each one and disable automatic downloads by deselecting all three options - Images, Audio, and Video.
To view the photos, you'll have to download them.
By saving them in a folder, you can get them along with other unwanted content, which will be visible to anyone who opens the gallery in your phone.
However, it is possible to prevent WhatsApp from saving photos and videos in the gallery. Here's how:
Download Quickpic and open the application.
Go to WhatsApp media folders.
The location of your WhatsApp folder varies from device to device, but it should usually be in one of the following places:
Internal Storage> WhatsApp> Media> WhatsApp Images.
WhatsApp Audio> WhatsApp Audio
WhatsApp> Media> Video WhatsApp WhatsApp Videos.
Long press on the WhatsApp Photos folder and make sure it is selected. Do the same with WhatsApp Video folders and WhatsApp Audio files.
Once you've selected the three folders, click the three dot icon in the top right> Hide.
This will ensure that they are not displayed in the Gallery app. You'll still be able to see photos and videos in WhatsApp and through any app that lets you view hidden folders. If someone else grabs your phone, don't worry about it because they won't be able to see WhatsApp photos and videos in the Gallery app.
Prevent WhatsApp from saving photos and videos to your iPhone
You can prevent WhatsApp from saving photos and videos to your iPhone also through the Settings menu:
Open WhatsApp and click the Settings button in the bottom left, and click Data and Storage Usage.
In this menu, you'll see Media Auto-Download at the top
For images, audio, video, and documents, select the Never option. The files you choose to download manually will only appear on your phone, and you can also choose to stop photos and videos from appearing in your camera roll.
All you have to do is go to Chats in the settings menu, open the Save to Camera Roll menu, and turn it off.
This will prevent WhatsApp from saving your photos and videos to your camera roll, and it will go to My Photo Stream, an iCloud cloud storage feature for sharing photos across devices instead of a sync cable.
