The Qatari government has opened the first photovoltaic station for electric cars and has just issued an urgent statement to the owners of cars on its soil.
Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) on Sunday inaugurated the first photovoltaic plant to store energy and charge electric vehicles.
According to the Qatar News Agency that the station is charging vehicles with electricity produced from solar energy, through 216 photovoltaic panels divided into two areas, a total area of 270 square meters.
In April, KPC signed a memorandum of understanding with Japan's Marubeni Corporation on the implementation of a pilot project for the construction of a photovoltaic charging station for electric vehicles.
Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), the first PV power station will be built in Qatar.
In February 2018, KAHRAMAA launched the first phase electric vehicle charging station project as part of the Green Car Initiative in Qatar at KAHRAMAA Awareness Park.
The project aims to reduce harmful carbon emissions by 7% of the total target of 17% across all sectors in Qatar by 2022.
